First, you have to be able to prove that none of the offered schools can meet your son's needs; it is not about what you like or don't like. And, it is best to prove that by having the school reject him in writing. Then, the district will offer other NPS programs and you will have to do the same.
Using a private school that is not a sp ed private school is not impossible, but it is complicated and can take time. If you are able to prove there are no NPS that can meet your son's needs, you may be able to enter into an informal settlement with your district to use the private school. Or, you might be able to give unilateral notice and place your son there yourself and seek reimbursement (up to two years later).
Since the school district is prohibited from contracting with a plain private school and the school likely doesn't have sp ed staff, you run into multiple problems: 1- you will have to front at least one month's tuition; 2- you have to prove the program is appropriate; 3- if things don't work out it will be your fault/responsibility, not the district; and 4- there likely won't be any DIS/related services, if your son needs those.
Good luck,
